Hello!

I am thrilled to announce the launch of our new program, "Donuts with the Diocese!" This initiative features me, Megan O'Connor, the Director of Missionary Stewardship! I will be visiting each vicariate within the Diocese to engage in meaningful conversations with parishioners and strengthen our church community's relationships. 

The inaugural Donuts with the Diocese event will take place in the Holy Name of Mary Vicariate this Friday, July 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at St. Gregory's in Newberry. 

"Donuts with the Diocese" aims to facilitate open and meaningful discussions between parishioners and church leadership. This program is designed to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose within our community. This informal and inexpensive event is based on a drop-in format centered around sharing donuts and coffee. It is inclusive and welcoming, encouraging all parishioners to attend and making it a church-community-wide effort. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with Megan and other church leaders and interact with fellow church members.

The Legacy of Faith Advisory Board recently announced $94,451.92 in faith formation grants to parishes and ministries throughout the diocese. The Legacy of Faith Fund was started in 2001 by then Bishop James Garland and is a permanent endowment of the U.P. Catholic Foundation. Its mission is to preserve and foster the Catholic faith in the Upper Peninsula. To see the full list of this year's grants, click here.

Speaking of grants, Totus Tuus has been supported in our diocese by the Legacy of Faith Fund for more than a decade. Totus Tuus is a summer youth program that aims to help young people grow in their Catholic faith. The picture above was taken at St. Ignatius this June.

On April 21-22, parishes collected gifts for the St. Joseph Association, a fund to support retired priests in the Diocese of Marquette. To date, the diocese has recorded a total of $77,629 for this annual collection. Thank you! If you would still like to donate, you can do so by clicking here.

The diocesan planned giving website got a facelift! And it was built with you in mind, knowing you have lots of questions about gifts to the church and planning a lasting legacy for your faith. The new website allows you to consider options for giving focused on your age, income, and current assets. It also includes free resources and sample language for wills. You can give it a try here with no obligation. 

The Bishop Baraga Association is pleased to announce that the Prayer Garden at the Baraga Educational Center and Museum (615 S. Fourth Street, Marquette) has been selected to participate in the Marquette Beautification Garden Walk on Thursday, July 25, from 1 to 7 p.m. The Prayer Garden will also serve as the tour's refreshment stop. This is a self-guided tour, with a map and all the necessary information in your ticket. Tickets are available at published locations, local flower shops, and each garden.
