On Aug. 11, 2024, Bishop John Doerfler dedicated the newly built St. Kateri Tekakwitha Mission in Bay Mills. Concelebrating were Fr. Dominic Yamoah Afrifa, pastor, and other priests from across the Diocese of Marquette. The church was rebuilt after a fire in 2021. After the Mass, attendees enjoyed a reception in the parish hall.

The Rite of Candidacy for seminarian Charles Tackman took place during Mass at St. Anne Parish in Escanaba. Bishop John Doerfler celebrated the Aug. 13, 2024 Mass during the seminarians' annual retreat. Fr. Fran DeGroot, St. Anne pastor, concelebrated along with Msgr. Michael Steber, and Frs. Benjamin Hasse and Timothy Ferguson.
Bessemer couple reflects on National Eucharistic Congress

"Jerry Mazurek said, 'We ... need to encourage people that that same Jesus is in our churches all over the U.P. and he’s available for all of us ... [The National Eucharistic Congress] is awesome, but you don’t have to come here to encounter Jesus. We can encounter him in the most rural and out-of-the-way places we’ve got in our diocese. He is there in the tabernacle.'"
