Is Jesus Worried?
Dear Friends in Christ,
It is easy to look at what is happening in the world and in our country and become anxious. In this context we might ponder a question. Is Jesus worried about what is happening in the world?
Simply put: NO! Jesus is not worried. He is the all-powerful Son of God. Through his death and resurrection he conquered sin and death. He has saved us. The victory is already won. In the meantime, let’s just say that the problems in the world are just a bit of “mop-up” that needs to be done. Because Jesus is not worried, neither should we.
During this Jubilee Year, we are to be pilgrims of hope. We are to put our hope and trust in Jesus. Here are some suggestions to live as pilgrims of hope.
First, do not spend too much time with the news or social media about happenings in our world. Yes, we should be informed, but too much time here can just make us anxious.
Second, focus on God’s blessings and the good things that God is doing. Give him thanks for his countless blessings.
Third, pray. When we learn of troubles in our world, let us confidently commend them to our Lord and his care.
Fourth, spread hope by doing good. By God’s grace, the good that we do can make a difference and give hope to others. Join the St. Vincent de Paul Society or become active in other outreaches to people in need right in the the UP. Engage in community service. Support local, national and international charities that help people in need.
Jesus came to suffer and die for our sins and to rise again to bring us new life. Let us put our hope and trust in him. Let us be pilgrims of hope.
In Christ,
