“It was a little surreal to know that the pope had been emailed on our behalf,” Charlie Tackman said. “I was content with that, but when I realized we had successfully emailed the pope, it was leading to something bigger.”
Catholic Social Services welcomes Carole Touchinski as executive director

Carole Touchinski is the new executive director of Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula, succeeding former executive director Kyle Rambo, who retired at the end of June.
"The mission of Catholic Social Services is to serve all people. We assist all people regardless of their religious affiliation. Our job is to help all who come through our doors. We have world-class services available to everyone. We simply seek to meet people where they are, and help them get to where they want to be. All are welcome through these doors!" Carole Touchinski said.
Get ready for Baraga Days 2025!
The annual Baraga Days celebrating the life and labors of Venerable Bishop Frederic Baraga will be held on August 29-30, 2025, in the Copper Country Area of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula (L’Anse, Assinins, Houghton/Hancock & Eagle Harbor). This event is an opportunity for those who know this saintly man to celebrate his work and provides an opportunity for all to learn about Bishop Frederic Baraga.
