On Oct. 5, the Coast to Coast Rosary was prayed by Catholics all across the United States at the same time for peace in the country and for the sanctity of human life. In Marquette, parishioners gathered at the Ellwood Mattson Lower Harbor Park for the Rosary. Fr. Tom Merkel, pastor of St. Louis the King in Harvey, and Dcn. Don Thoren, from St. Peter Cathedral, led the Patriotic Rosary in prayer and song. Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus Mario Scibelli turned on a light as each Hail Mary was dedicated to each one of the fifty states in the U.S. The event was planned by Sarah and Tom Seeke, Cindy Fleming and other parishioners representing area churches and organizations.

The Care Clinic held its annual fall fundraising banquet on Oct. 9 at the Northern Center at Northern Michigan University. The evening's keynote speaker was Gianna Jessen, an abortion survivor, who shared her story with attendees. The Care Clinic offers emotional and material assistance to any woman needing it during her pregnancy or after. Services are offered at no charge. For more information visit www.careclinicmqt.org/
Bishop’s new podcast focuses on hope

"We see daily just how broken this world is that we live in. As pilgrims making our way toward our heavenly home, we need the reassurance and reminder that we are destined for eternity and that our hope and our identity is in the resurrection and salvation of Jesus Christ," Hattie Hanold said on the matter of why it is important to talk about hope.
"We as Catholics need to be talking more about hope because it truly is the anchor for our souls as we accompany one another through the joyful mysteries and sorrowful mysteries of our lives."
